First, I wanted to say that I love your meditations and music! There is something about it that jives with my own wavelengths. So thank you so much!I
I wanted to remark on the topic of power animals. I am open to the possibility of having more than one power animal, or each of us having a different power animal at different points in our lives. I say this because I identify a lot with the Bear, for example, but I don't think he reflects back to me energies that my higher self recognizes as healthy. Along with whatever positive qualities the Bear has, in my own journeys, he is accompanied by a lot of sadness that is reflected back to me as my own (sadness coming from old wounds and losses) and he is always frantically looking for something. One time he dug up a cracker jack compass--which suggested to me that he was seeking direction. I then promised to help him find what he was looking for, even though neither him nor I know what that is yet. Has anyone else had this experience of identifying with an animal--but in a negative way? The animals that I continue to identify with in a positive way are the Crow and the Black Panther. And the Fox regularly shows up too. I have an old playful Indian guide named "Chee-Chwa" who often plays tricks on me if I am not paying attention. He has a painted white face, big bug eyes, missing teeth, a little scary looking, but is always helpful, often to my surprise. The other day I encountered a Pilgrim in a big black hat with a buckle on it dressed in black clothes. You know that 17th century stoic look of the early American colonists? Yeah, he proceeded to look up at me from the brim of his hat, and sure enough, it was Chee-Chwa disguised as an uptight Puritan, making fun of me and my own dogmatism. I roared in laughter.
Anyway, I just thought I'd share to try to get a conversation going. I am still a beginner with this stuff. I have been participating in drum journeys and guided meditations for about a year now, even bought my own drum, and I have had fruitful results so far with a lot of animals joining up with me, offering consolation, pointing me in new directions, etc. But I can't say I know for certain what is my power animal. This doesn't bother me much, however. I don't have to know because I just go with what happens in the moment...I get the most fruitful results when I stop trying to control the direction of the journey... the point of journeying is to let the animal at the moment take you where you are being led, or for you to identify and name the energy that he or she is mirroring back to you.
I could say a lot more here, but I'd like to leave the topic as it stands and hear any feedback from others. Thanks for reading!
